office pictureHappiness is ultimately not in anyone else’s hands or controlled by anyone other than yourself.  It is purely a choice you can make. As often as I can I choose to be happy! I understand that I am the only one that can really rain on my parade. It isn’t always easy, but nobody ever said life would be easy.

I remember those days when I was sitting in an office working.  Some days were better than others; some parts of my job were especially fun, other parts, not so much.  Some of the people I worked with were definitely better than others.  This is part of life and we have to learn to personally make the best of it or find a different job.

Even today working on my website there are some of my tasks that are clearly more fun than others.  That comes with the territory of anything we have to do.  To keep myself happy I do the things that are not as pleasant, in the morning when I’m fresh.  By doing those not so fun projects I can definitely enjoy the rest of my day much more.

I know that having been there, the work place can obviously have its problems. Some of the people you work with can be the pits, let’s face it.  You know the kind; they just plain got out the wrong side of the bed.  This isn’t your problem, it is there’s.  Here is where you have to bring in the humor and a little empathy for them.  Ignoring them helps too!  Don’t make their problems yours. Don’t let them suck the life out of you.  I found that if they would start with the negative talk I would just put in the positive side.  Either they would get tired of listening to the positive side and go away or they would start thinking positive themselves.

It is really cool how that works.  Let me put it this way, if someone was coming to your house and bringing their trash with them.  Opening the bag and spreading it around would you stand there and let this happen or would you put a stop to it?  The mind is like that, when people talk negative to you they are empting their trash in your mind.  Not so good.  Now if you wouldn’t let them put their trash in your house why in the world are you going to let them put their trash in your mind?  I don’t know about you but personally I have enough going around in my mind without someone else unloading in it.

The people you work with can definitely make your job or break it sometimes.  If you’re happy with the work that you are doing, don’t let someone else’s attitude take that away from you.  Ultimately you have to stand up for yourself.

On the other hand if you are in a job that you don’t like, you definitely need to find another one.  After all when you found that job you were looking for a JOB and you found one.  If that is not a possibility at the moment, learn to make the most of what you have until another opportunity comes alone.  It is all in the attitude.  With the right attitude happiness within just comes before you even realize it.

Creating positive change in your life begins with how you interpret life. If you want things to change, the first step is to make the choice to see the world in a beneficial way, on the inside.  This is going to bring you happiness within.

By that I mean when it comes to working you have to really learn to enjoy your work, regardless of what you do.  If you are someone’s boss remember you are your employer’s servant.  If it wasn’t for your employee’s you wouldn’t be a boss, since there wouldn’t be anyone working for you.  If you are an employee take pride in what you do.  There is a story about the “Richest Man in Town”.  His name was Marty and he checked people out at W-Mart.  People would wait in line to go through his check out line.  Why, because he treated people passionately.  He knew his job was important.  It doesn’t matter what you do as long as you do it right and for the right reasons and with a happy attitude.

Get enthused about your job, act like it is the best job out there or get enthusiastic about finding a new one.  Connect with your happiness in the work place.  Act like your cleaning toilets and you’re making them shine so bright, no one will want to sit on them for fear of streaking them.

With that said go out and make tomorrow the happiest work day of your life!  You can do this!
