Style - Making Sense of Colour
Colour plays a huge part in the first impression you create. Here are some pointers beyond the black and white of colours to help you project your desired image:
Red: Associated with power, passion and attention, red will definitely make you stand out from the crowd. Use it once in a while to make a statement. A tricky colour to wear so make sure the undertone is right for you. Avoid the cliché of teaming a plain red tie with a white shirt and a plain black suit - it looks mundane. Fire up your wardrobe with either a stripy or a checked red shirt.
Blue: Light blue suggests a sincere, sensitive and compassionate nature. Darker blue conveys authority and success. Navy blue is a great, classy substitute for black.
Purple: A sign of luxury, regality and authority. This was the colour of rank in Ancient Rome and is a symbol of royalty. Wearing purple or lilac shows you are intuitive and diplomatic.
White: Optimistic, fresh and clean. Pure white can be uplifting or draining, depending on your natural colouring. There are warm and cool shades of white: find one that suits you and your skin will look bright and healthy. In business, wear white if you prefer to be unnoticed. Choose other colours if you want to stand out from the crowd.
