Michele,

You are right, a manager should be open to feedback and suggestions - as long as it is contructive.

A manager should be a person of influence but influencing people does not necessarily to dominate those that are below you. Yes it would always be about building a relationship and helping these people whom we are managing because when we help others we help ourselves.

I agree that managing people can be easy if we show an interest in them and we are approachable. I feel a manager should also be open to feedback and suggestions and understand the needs of employees.

A manager usually has to work hard. I feel in any organization a manager plays a vital role to handle complex things and targets.

I feel a manager's job is usually challenging because managers have to take care of so many things such as planning, analyzing reporting etc. Managing people can be the most challenging task.

I have always found managing people the most difficult of all. The tasks themselves are not quite as tough. It is the relationships that can be challenging to handle.
