Sarah Palin and Job Interviews

First of all, let me start out by saying that this article is merely my observation and opinion, nothing more.

Some people are a great interview. They're bright, attractive, articulate, charming and so doggone irressistable you can't help but like them. They make a great first impression, so you hire them.
But did you hire the right person for the job?
Were they really the most qualified?
That's the question surrounding political phenomenon and media darling, Sarah Palin. She makes a great first impression. But as charming and likeable as she is, do you honestly think she's the most qualified person to be vice-president of the United States?
I don't.
Just A Small Town Mayor
Let's examine her experience and see what we come up with. She was mayor of a small town of less than 10,000 people. I personally don't have anything against small towns. But I don't think a small town mayor is qualified to be vice-president of the United State?
Do you think your small town mayor is qualified to be vice-president?
Moving on.
Governor of Alaska
She's been the governor of Alaska for less than two years. Let's put that into perpective. Alaska is a scarcely populated state of approximately 600,000 people, that has nowhere near the cultural
problems and complicated issues of much more densely populated states such as New York, California or Texas that have tens of millions of people.
On top of that, she's currently under investigation for abuse of power, for firing public
At the time Palin dismissed Monegan, Wooten was involved in a custody battle with his former wife, Molly McCann, Palin's sister.
So she also has that ugly investigation hanging over her head. Now to be fair, those who support governor Palin, will point out she has executive experience.
Executive experience?
Give me a freakin' break!
Anyone who runs a business has executive experience. I have executive experience too. And as egotistical and brilliant as I think I am, I know for a fact that I don't have the experience to be vice-president of the United States. Nothing like it!
I'd venture to say most business executives would admit they also don't have the necessary experience
to be vice-president.
By the way, did you see Palin's interview with ABC's Charlie Gibson?
This person wants to be vice-president of the United States, and she doesn't even know what the "Bush Doctrine" is? But wait, it gets even better or worse, depending on your point of view. When asked about her foreigh policy experience she said, "I can see Russia from my house."
History Of Cancer
This would be hilarious if it wasn't so serious. People wakeup! This woman is going to be a heartbeat away from the presdidency. John McCain is 72 years old with a history of cancer. If he's elected and
dies in office, folks, Sarah Palin is the president.
John McCain reportedly interviewed Palin one time, and hired her to be his vice-president. Can you believe that?
I've personally taken more time than that to hire sales people.

I have to completely disagree. First, she is not the media's darling. They are doing everything they can to discredit her.
Yes, she does have executive experience. She runs a state. Not a small business, not a corporation, but a state with hundreds of thousands of people. A state that has a similar number of citizens as Delaware, yet we think Biden is fit to be VP. Alaska is a state that controls 20% of our natural energy. Alaska is a powerful state. Also, that interview with Gibson was a joke. Did you notice how they edited it? They cut and pasted so bad that I noticed it right away. If you look at the full transcript you can see how they took good content and destroyed it, trying to destroy her. But, apparently the majority of US citizens can see through this smear campaign and are still excited about McCain/Palin in the White House. I could go on and on, but I need to get back to work. |

Carol,
Thanks for taking the time out to comment. I can see how the media are trying to discredit her. I am keen to share my thoughts on the interview process, though. I think it is a good point, well made. Andrew |

The majority of the US are not excited about McCain/Palin. They are horrified at the appaling judgment McCain has shown.
What? A failure as a soldier (he spent almost his entire time in service in a POW camp) and a woman who thinks it is wrong to teach sex education to teenagers. Please. I agree with you 100% Andrew. This woman should be no where near the White House. I beat you to it though :) |

Mark,
Time will tell whether she makes it to the White House or not. I think it is a close run thing. Andrew |

Andrew, you need to go to factcheck.org get your facts straight. Charlie Gibson is f!#*ing idiot, every time she gave an answer he questioned it. (with a tone that only an A*! would have) That thing was so edited, they tried to make her look bad by cutting up the interviw. Carol is right on!!

I agree with your analysis. I just hope McCain doesn't make it to the White House. The whole world will be the poorer for that.

Oh God - it's a worry isn't it? That people can even be so lame as to relate to people like Bush, Palin et al?
What I don't understand is how anyone could be so stupid? is it bad genes? lack of education? Whatever the cause is - let's take it out the back in sack and drown it in a barrel. The cause, that is, not the afflicted ;-) @Anja - it IS a world issue too. Really we should all get a vote in the US election. That'd change the game a bit eh? |

Perceptions are distorted by our own biases, our own experiences, our own hopes, our own desire to be right, so we routinely see what we want to see. All of us.
This election makes it utterly obvious to anyone who wants to see it just how distorted human perceptions can be. I quite agree it is important to look past the surface you first see... |
