Have you found your perfect
career? Do you love going into work and
do you get satisfaction from the work you do?
If you do, then you have made the right career choice, if you don’t,
then you need to take a different direction.
Some people who are unhappy at work, are often
dissatisfied with some or all of the following: working conditions, jobs they
are given, fellow colleagues, their bosses, rates of pay or benefits they
receive etc. Sometimes their situations
can be improved, if some or all of these areas are addressed and improved. They can then be happy. However for some people, they have just made
the wrong career choice and the only way for them to become happy, is to make a
complete career change.
You are the only one that make this
career choice. You need to put in the
effort and ask the right questions to avoid making the wrong career
decision. It is important you get it
right, as you spend a vast majority of your life either at work, or travelling
to and from work. Your working life
affects all other aspects of your life too, your relationships, your family,
your health and your finances etc.
You need to spend time thinking about what you want and what you need out your career. You need to research into different jobs, deciding on which would be suitable for you, which you would enjoy doing, which would give you satisfaction and which would make you happy.
You need to think about the skills you have, what you are good at and what you
are bad at, what your attitudes are, your values and your style. You need to do this in a very honest way in
order to make the correct decision, not in a way you would like to be.
Once you have all this information to hand, you will have a better idea of what you would be suited to do and also of what would not be suitable for you and you can now look into researching the types of jobs available to you.
When looking into the different types of jobs, you need to find out all the
information available. For instance, do
you need training, will you need to travel, will it involve working away from
home at all, what are the hours, what are the duties required, is there career
progression if I want it etc.
Ask yourself if you are happy with the
answers and ask yourself truthfully if you would be happy to go along with this
progression. Is this career going to
give you what you want and are you going to give it your all?
If the answer is yes, then chase the
career and give yourself of being happy.
Only you can make that choice and not settle for second best!
