How Do You Cope…A Great Day and A very, Very Sad Day

I have just experienced a very emotional roller coaster 24 hours. It started on a high but it turned out to be a very sad day indeed.

This is sad – I am sorry.

Why Did It Start Great?

I was ecstatic and on a high because I had just revamped one of my products, The Great Successful People Package. I completed all the changes to the product and web site, went to bed tired but pleased I had finished. I felt great and was looking forward to getting up in the morning and seeing some sales!

Now…For The Sad News

‘Pet Heaven’ accepted our beloved dog, Sam yesterday.

Since January, Sam has suffered from a urine infection (along with all his other problems). The vet prescribed antibiotics and they cured the infection. The course of antibiotics finished and the next day the infection returned. The vet prescribed longer courses of antibiotics and they cured the infection. Again, the course of antibiotics finished and, again, the next day the infection returned.

What Shall We Do?

The vet didn’t know what to suggest other then keep Sam on antibiotics for the rest of his life. It was difficult to treat certain symptoms, as Sam was diabetic.

The vet warned us eventually Sam’s body would get used to the antibiotics and the infection would return.

Yesterday that time arrived.

I got out of bed, went downstairs and Sam had urinated in his bed, he was heavily panting and he couldn’t stand.

My wife and I took Sam to the vets. There was nothing they could do – we had done everything possible.

My wife and I broke down. Sam was a beautiful intelligent dog.

The time was set for 3pm, later that day.

We Said Goodbye…

We took Sam home so the whole family could say ‘goodbye’.

We gave him some chocolate and treats. Sam could not have such goodies, as he was diagnosed diabetic. He wolfed them down.

Family members said goodbye and we were all crying.

3pm arrived and went.

We love him.

We miss him.

Our house is empty.

Andrew, I am so sorry to hear about your dog. I know how hard it is when a loved pet passes on, but it is good that you all had the chance to say goodbye to him.

I went to tell you about our recent loss, but couldn't even put it into words, so I am awed by your bravery in putting this post out.

Oh Andrew, I was so sorry to hear about Sam! Then again, to read your post is to know of the great love he brought to all of you, and that he received: It sounds like his was a life quite well lived, lucky to have you as his family.

We were very lucky to have him - he was the last one in the litter left, when we first picked him up.

So sorry to hear about Sam. We have a beautiful Maltese named Snowball, and I can feel your pain and sadness. Sounds like he had a wonderful life with a loving family.
