To affirm something is simply to declare that it is true. So, creating and using affirmations should be a breeze, right?

Why People Have No Goals Program

Everyone has individual goals but only about 3% have a well-balanced goals program. An individual goal could be something as simple as getting to work on time or losing ten pounds. It could be a negative goal like getting the next fix or the next drink. A goals program is an entirely different matter. There are many reasons people do not have a goals program. One major reason is an unrealistic or imagined fear which causes one to believe that his/her efforts will produce failure, so it is “safer” not to try.

When setting goals and objectives, you have to be specific so that you can create commitment. Otherwise, you run the risk of selling yourself short or making do with what comes closest to your original plan (even though "closest" is actually a poor substitution for your original goal).

Everyone has a goal or two that they would like to achieve. These goals may be short term or long term. Unfortunately, not all of these goals are easily fulfilled. More often than not, people find themselves sidetracked by other things. This is why personal goal setting techniques are so important. They help keep you on track.

Sometimes our biggest life goals seem so overwhelming.

We rarely see them as a series of small, achievable tasks, but in reality, breaking down a large goal into smaller tasks—and accomplishing them one at a time—is exactly how any big goal gets achieved.

After you have decided what you really want, with specific deadlines, the next step is to determine all of the individual action steps you will need to take to accomplish your goal.

    How to Chunk It Down

I want to warn you: this article can cause some discomfort, indignation and sense of insult in minds of people who are not ready to be successful. If you are not ready to face the truth, please don't read this article, because I don't want to hurt your feelings for nothing.

    Thrive On Change

Dell believes in the power of deriving strength from change. When speaking on the issue, he often makes a link between change and “the Chinese character for crisis which represents both danger and opportunity.” The success of his company has come about in large part due to Dell’s ability to not only withstand change, but also to take advantage of new opportunities.

    Build Byte By Byte

“I've learned from experience that a company can grow too fast,” says Dell. “You have to be careful about expanding into new businesses because if you get into too many too quickly, you won't have the experience or the infrastructure to succeed.”

    Getting Out of the Box

Many people set low ceilings on their expectations and capabilities.  In the process, they place themselves in a "box."  Alexander Whortley took that a step further and literally lived in a box...

    Take Your Business Seriously

I believe in God, family, and McDonald's, said Kroc. And in the office, that order is reversed.

    Work Together

Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success, said Ford. If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.

    Aim High

“Aim for the highest,” said Carnegie. “Think of yourself as on the threshold of unparalleled success. A whole, clear, glorious life lies before you. Achieve! Achieve!”

    Focus Your Sights

“Here is the prime condition of success, the great secret,” said Carnegie. “Concentrate your energy, thought, and capital exclusively upon the business in which you are engaged. Having begun in one line, resolve to fight it out on that line, to lead in it; adopt every improvement, have the best machinery, and know the most about it.”

Find out why people procrastinate...and overcome it

I see so many people looking for the ideal group to get leads that will turn into business. I have attended many networking groups and have only been impressed by a few.

Victor Frankl once wrote, “Everything can be taken from a person but one thing: the last of human freedoms - to choose one’s attitudes in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” Frankl was right. Attitude is a choice.

How Many Hours a Day Do You Have?

If you never stopped to sleep, eat or do anything else you could work 24 hours in 1 day. Never more. If you could keep that up for a week that is 168 hours, for a month that is 720 hours, and in a year that would be 8,760. Trying to do this would be a recipe for disaster and you would end up dead or in the hospital.

Being shunned by former boss Jack Welch was what made one executive realize he was "adrift." Another up-and-comer quit a blue-chip job to sell coffee brewers. Careers gone off course? Hardly: Those two now run Fortune 500 companies: Amgen and Starbucks.

Direct Marketing is no different that marketing or marketing online with a couple of exceptions. Your marketing pieces get into the hands of the buyer and they need to be well incentivized to not hit the trash can in a hurry.

If you have a $100,000,000.00 in the bank, drive the new Jaguar, look like a movie star and have a perfect health - save yourself some time and do not read this article. This article is for people, who don't have all these things, but are planning on changing that slight inconvenience.

So how do you change it?

    My Goals For 2009!

Another whole year has passed like the blink of an eye and another new year begins. It is that time of the year where I do a very
important ritual-exercise and I would like to share it with you and encourage you to do the same

    Good News in the Newspaper

Over the years I've heard many people make the comment that they no longer read the newspaper. They say there's too much bad news and not enough good news.  For that reason, I was impressed when UPI and AP both carried heartwarming stories about two unusual people who graduated from college.

    Stay Focused

“I am a very focused person,” says Combs. “Right now I'm in a real, real strong creative zone. You know, musically I'm in that zone. Fashion, designer-wise, I'm in that zone. I'm in a zone right now. I'm like Jordan in the fourth right now, ladies and gentlemen.” Between all his business ventures, court battles, marathon runs and his family, if it weren’t for Combs’ ability to focus on one important thing at a time, he would have succumbed to the pressure long ago.

    Don’t Compromise

At the very first audition of “American Idol”, fellow judge Paula Abdul got her first taste of what it was like to work with Cowell. Following a terrible performance by a young contestant, Cowell responded with one of his trademark criticisms. “My jaw literally – like a cartoon – must have hit the table,” recalls Abdul. She proceeded to tell Cowell that he could not talk to people that way. Cowell responded that indeed he could. Abdul countered, saying he could not talk to Americans that way. Cowell said that he could and he would and the conversation abruptly came to an end.

Create a Vision and Stick To It

“There is a powerful, driving force inside every human being that, once unleashed, can make any vision, dream or desire a reality,” says Robbins. “I challenge you to make your life a masterpiece. I challenge you to join the ranks of those people who live what they teach, who walk their talk.”

    Goals

K.I.S.S.  When I started my sales career, one of the first things we were taught was to "Keep It Simple, Salesman."  Communicate in such a way that your message is unmistakably clear.  If the message is not clear, the prospect ends up confused and confused people seldom take action.

    Set High Goals

“I always knew I’d be a millionaire by age thirty-two,” said Oprah in 1987. “In fact, I am going to be the richest black woman in America.” 19 years later, with a net worth of $1.4 billion, Oprah has become not only the richest black woman in America, but also one of the richest people in the world. She ranks 235 on the Forbes 400 Richest Americans list and almost 30 million American houses tune in to her show daily to hear her talk about everything from relationship problems to business investments to human rights abuses around the world.

    Go With Your Gut

“Experience taught me a few things,” says Trump. “One is to listen to your gut, no matter how good something sounds on paper.”

    Think Big

“I like thinking big. I always have,” says Trump. “If you’re going to be thinking anyway, you might as well think big.”

    Break Records

“We’re going where no one has gone before,” says Branson, referring to Virgin Galactic’s partnership with the estate of New Mexico to build the world’s first commercial spaceport. “There’s no model to follow, nothing to copy. That is what makes this so exciting.”
