With the year coming to a close, it's time to acknowledge and appreciate yourself for everything you've accomplished today, throughout the year, and in life.

    Living with Integrity

”What I do is who I am” Chris Schenkel.  Several years ago I heard about an ad placed in a sports magazine advising hunters how not to scatter their shots.  The ad said, “For one dollar we’ll give you that information.”  Many people sent their dollar and the advice was, “Just use one shot.”  While the ad was deceptive, and I’m certain many of the respondents were irritated at being taken in, the advice was good.

    It’s Time to Brand Yourself

In this recession, having a strong personal brand has become an urgent priority

    The Value of Personal Branding

Now that you know the importance of branding yourself, how do you do it?

After having struggled for so long, it took a shift in attitude for my family and me when success started to happen. When I started making a little extra money at age 25, Schoaff taught me to also let it serve as a new inspiration for lifestyle...

Happiness is a state of mind. Although certain circumstances can't help but affect you, the decision to laugh or cry remains yours to be made. So instead of drowning in sorrow, why not teach yourself how to become a happy person?

    Stress - Good or Bad?

The dictionary says that stress is “to force or drive.”  It’s “urgency, pressure, importance.”  It’s “focus, concentration of attention, to emphasize.”  When we look at the entire dictionary definition of stress, we learn that stress can be either good or bad.

Now the key to make life really unique and worthwhile is to share. Sharing has a certain unique magic of its own. Here's what I learned in sharing ideas.

I'm sure that there are lots of things that you really love. You may love your parents, your husband/wife, your girl friend/boyfriend and your children. You may love your car, your home or even your new mobile phone.

But let me ask you a question that may seem really weird, 'do you love yourself?'

    Be Bold

“In fashion, you know you have succeeded when there is an element of upset,” said Chanel.

    Create the Illusion

Until 1985, what was known about Lauder’s life was limited largely to what she decided to reveal. She had created an image of herself as the Cosmetics Queen whose eternal youth, beauty and class could not risk being marred by the reality of her somewhat plain upbringing. In 1985, that all changed when Lauder learned of the soon-to-be published unauthorized story of her life and she was prompted to write her own biography. But, even with the release of Estee: A Success Story, little was in fact exposed to help break down the myth of the larger than life Lauder.

    Do It Yourself

“I love my product,” said Lauder. “I love to touch the creams, smell them, look at them, carry them with me. A person has to love her harvest if she’s to expect others to love it.” Because of Lauder’s love for her company, she took a very hands-on approach to its operations, getting her hands dirty in everything from production to marketing to sales. She understood the importance of hiring a good team, but her desire for perfection and quality drove her to want to control all aspects of her company, at least until it got too big for her to handle alone.

“If you have a goal, if you want to be successful, if you really want to do it and become another Estee Lauder, you’ve got to work hard, you’ve got to stick to it and you’ve got to believe in what you’re doing,” said Lauder.

“My first ambition in life was to be Miles Davis,” recalls Gardner. “I didn’t want to be a trumpet player, an artist or a jazz musician – I literally wanted to be Miles. My mom said to me, ‘Baby, you can’t be Miles. There ain’t but one, and he got that job.’ But I made a commitment at an early age that I wanted to be world class at something,”

    Go After What You Want

I think fantasies are for the birds, Klein once said. Anything I wanted to do, I did. If theres something I want, nothing stops me.

    Broaden Your Appeal

I want everyone I can get, says Klein. Jews, Catholics, gays straights, you name it! Klein has risen to the top of the fashion industry by creating products and advertising campaigns that appeal to the broadest cross-section of the population and herein lies part of his genius. By not limiting himself to a certain market and creating a wide range of product lines to accommodate all segments of society, Klein helped solidify his position at the top of the American fashion industry.

    Become An Expert

Whether it was sewing lessons from his grandmother, shopping trips with his mother or an apprenticeship with the esteemed coat manufacturer Dan Millstein in the New York fashion district, Klein knew that if he was going to succeed in the fashion business, he was going to have to take advantage of every single learning opportunity that presented itself. Known for his dedication to his craft, Klein often sacrificed much of his personal live to improve his skills and increase his chances of succeeding professionally.

    Give Back

"I couldn't imagine," Carnegie said upon his retirement, "what I could ever do with so much money."

    Follow Your Heart

“My parents wanted me to be a lawyer,” Lopez jokingly recalls. “But I don’t think I would have been very happy. I’d be in front of the jury singing.”

    Give It All You’ve Got

“You get what you give,” says Lopez. “What you put into things is what you get out of them.”

Lopez is a workaholic with a reputation throughout Hollywood for being extremely ambitious and known for the boundless energy she puts into everything she does, be it films, music, her fashion line or her production company. It was the lessons she learned as a young child at home that would eventually allow Lopez to venture into all of the areas she since has, and to do it so successfully.

    The Rose

Lifestyle is style over amount. And style is an art - the art of living. You can't buy style with money. You can't buy good taste with money. You can only buy more with money. Lifestyle is culture - the appreciation of good music, dance, art, sculpture, literature, plays and the art of living well. It's a taste for the fine, the unique, the beautiful.

    Overcoming the Negative

We must all wage an intense, lifelong battle against the constant downward pull. If we relax, the bugs and weeds of negativity will move into the garden and take away everything of value.

    9 Recession Survival Tips

As the economy continues to slow here are 9 tips to survive and thrive through the recession.

Victor Frankl once wrote, “Everything can be taken from a person but one thing: the last of human freedoms - to choose one’s attitudes in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” Frankl was right. Attitude is a choice.

    How I Work

Not much of a paper chase for Microsoft's chairman, who uses a range of digital tools to do business.

Have you ever considered how much your body image  - your personal packaging, contributes to your business and personal success?

    Giving

Give what you've got.  Agnes W. Thomas tells the story of what happened when her next door neighbor died and left a fourteen year old daughter named Amy who was often alone when her father was at work.  "Amy spent much of her after school time in my apartment, so I decided to teach her how to crochet.

    Create a Lifestyle

A line of Sean John clothing, a line of Sean Jean Navigator custom SUVs, a new Unforgivable fragrance, an upcoming line of Sean Jean Elite shoes – Combs has saturated the market in an attempt to move from being an urban clothing label to becoming a lifestyle brand. He has attempted to incorporate his sense of style into all of his products, creating a lifestyle based on urban sophistication and sensibility and appealing to young adults worldwide to embrace this lifestyle.

    Play To Win

“I came in to win,” says Combs. “This is why I stay up late while other people are sleeping; this is why I don’t go out to the Hamptons.”

“Questions provide the key to unlocking our unlimited potential,” says Robbins. “Quality questions create a quality life. Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers.”
