My wife, Joy and I. Our first night in Kenya.

I recently had an article accepted over at Career Adventurer – Charting a course to inspiring work.

My guest post is about NOT getting that promotion.

Agree with it or not, but not everybody would like a great successful career. Not everybody wants to get a promotion and earn more cash. So check out the post, follow the suggestions and I guarantee you won’t be promoted.

Here’s the link to the post:

How NOT to win that job promotion

mastering public speaking How to use the audience for dramatic effect when public speakingMany of us would love to start mastering public speaking.

One particular technique that works wonders in any public speaking engagement is to involve the audience.

Think of when we converse with a friend.

Unless we are extremely self-centred, the chances are that we don’t just talk and leave all the listening to the other person. We ask questions, we seek verbal as well as visual confirmation, we pause and we use rhetorical questions to improve the communication process.

And so it is with our public speaking.

How hungry are you?

hungry for success How hungry are you?Do you know what you want to achieve?

Do you really want to succeed?

To have any chance of being successful and wanting to achieve what you want in your life, you must have a personal vision.

Having a vision is about using your imagination; it is about stretching your brain to think differently. It’s about training yourself to focus on where it is you want to go, what it is you want to achieve.

SFProductivty 4 What type of Manager do you want to be?

The First-Class Manager e-Course

In this article, I’d like to touch upon a real passion of mine – Continuous Improvement.

I have worked in several companies where things take 4 or 5 times longer to complete just because of the bureaucracy or processes in place. How many times have you heard phrases like:

“That’s the way we do things around here”

“We’ve always done it that way”

“We’ve tried to do that before and it failed”

“That’s the process we have to use”

And many other statements just like it.

Wendelin Wiedeking Is ‘win at all cost’ the no 1 quality for great leaders

Wendelin Wiedeking

An interesting development in the Porsche vs Volkswagen drama has been the recent resignation of it’s CEO of 17 years, Wendelin Wiedeking. It could also be that Wiedeking was made to leave. It was a very sudden decision.

Wiedeking took over the management of Porsche when the automaker seemed to be on its last legs. During the 17 years at its helm, Wiedeking reversed the fortunes of the luxury marque and rebuilt the company into a highly profitable organisation.

ebook cover small Get the eCourse ‘How to write Articles’ to help you create killer presentationsHave you noticed how the written word has made a huge come back? Gone are the days where the manager had a secretary to write his letters and type up his presentations. Those were the days of pencils and short hand notebooks. No more.

Managers now have to depend on their own writing skills for all tasks. These include short messages they might post on Twitter, emails that need to be written, or the company page they maintain on Facebook.

I’ve been Stumble Scammed

Posted by: | Comments (10)

missing I’ve been Stumble ScammedI was recently asked to ‘share’ a post with all my friends, it was entitled, “AMBER ALERT: NEW Damian Paul Duncan 11 MISSING TN 7/8/09″ (web page image on the left).

So I thought that’s a good cause, I shall. So I did!

Then I start getting some complaints back from my Stumble friends.

Asking why I am sharing such rubbish, etc. But the web age associated with the ‘complaint’ was a page I didn’t recognise. I simply replied, “I didn’t share this…sorry”

Then I receive a few more. I was confused.

How To Be A Fearless Leader

Posted by: | Comments (0)

fear 239x300 How To Be A Fearless LeaderTo be a leader means you should be brave and fearless, this however is easier said than done. After all, everyone has their own set of fears and leaders are no different. Despite your existing fears however, there are ways of becoming a fearless leader and a good one at that.

The very first thing that you can do to become a fearless leader is to acknowledge your fears. It is a good idea to keep a journal of your fears and be honest in recording the fears that you think may affect your leadership abilities. The fears may even include those of your personal life especially if they hinder you from becoming an effective leader.
